Kundli matching for marriage — Guna Milan or Ashtakoota — is the classical Vedic method for measuring compatibility between two people before marriage. It has nothing to do with love, chemistry, or personality (those matter, but are separate). It measures whether the karmic setup of both charts supports a long, peaceful household.

The threshold
18 out of 36 is the classical minimum. 24 or more is considered very good. But a score alone is misleading — a couple with 30/36 but strong Nadi Dosha and no cancellation can face harder problems than a couple with 20/36 and clean cancellations everywhere.
